Statement
Sarah Magida is an active artist and arts community advocate. She lives in a garden of earthly delights in Baltimore City, MD.
Using embroidery, batik, quilting and natural dye in a deeply textured method to convey a connection to nature and a vocabulary of symbols. She grows most of her own dye garden in the front yard of her home, a busy urban neighborhood in Baltimore City.
As of recently her dye practice has led to creating pigment for oil painting. Painting was her first love but as a practice the connection was lost, which led to fiber arts as her main focus. Magida paints with an energetic use of color and creating ethereal spaces.
